Entryway
The first step to decluttering your home is to eliminate the piles of looks items: keys, mail, shoes, purses, wallets. Introduce wicker baskets and bins that will adequately hold everything while keeping your entryway fashionably neat and organized.
Placing a bench or wooden entryway table by your front door gives your guests a subtle hint to kick off their shoes when they enter your home. No one wants muddy footprints on the carpet!
Living Room
To keep your living room organized and clutter-free, decide what articles of furniture and accent pieces you want to display. Carefully curating what you hope to display on shelving or a nice coffee table will help open up your living space.
If you have young kids, you don’t want to constantly trip on their toys and games--instead, provide them with a toy basket for their own bedroom. They can switch out the contents with puzzles, crayons, and whatever games they like. This will limit the quality of loose items taking over your living room and keep your space contained and organized.
Master Bedroom
The master bedroom is the biggest chore of them all. Your bedroom should get a complete overhaul at least once a year. If there are piles of clothes you haven’t worn in over a year--donate them, give them to a friend, or put what you want to keep in a box to keep if it has sentimental value. Leaving items you don’t wear in your closet crowds your space and makes it harder to find the clothes you do wear.
Invest in plenty of bedroom furniture. If your shoes don’t fit nicely, try using a shoebox so all your boots, sneakers, slippers and heels can be easily organized. Try an ottoman or chest to store decorative pillows and create a pleasant aesthetic, and add a bedside table or nightstand to keep all personal items contained.
Kids' Room(s)
The kids’ rooms require even more maintenance than the master bedroom. Children grow out of their toys and clothing quicker than anyone can keep up with, so we recommend clearing out your kids’ rooms at least twice a year to reduce clutter.
Focus on items that are easy to maintain. Group similar categories and dedicate shelves for the clutter-filled areas. Frequently used items like toys and school supplies should be kept towards the bottom, and seasonal and sentimental items should be placed towards the top to prevent damage. Color-coded bins with all their books, toys, and clothes make it easy for kids to find what they are looking for without making a mess.
